Industry Pro Toolkit, the Chrome extension for Acting Portal and Web For Actors. Last updated September 8, 2026.
The short version. The extension shows you your own data from your own Acting Portal account while you browse. It stores a sign-in token on your computer and nothing else. It does not track your browsing, does not read your email, and sells nothing to anybody.
This policy covers the browser extension called Industry Pro Toolkit, published by Web For Actors. It is separate from the privacy policy for the websites themselves, which governs your account, your subscription and the data you enter into them.
The extension is only useful with an Acting Portal account. Everything it shows you is data already held in that account.
| What | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A sign-in token, and your name and email address | chrome.storage.local |
So you stay signed in between browser sessions. The token is held by the extension's background script and is never readable by a web page. |
| Your preferences: whether the signature is on, whether open tracking is on, whether IMDb is tidied, and which panels the popup shows | chrome.storage.sync |
So a setting you choose follows you to your other computers. These are switches only. No personal data is stored with them. |
| Short-lived lookup results | chrome.storage.session |
So moving between IMDb pages does not re-ask the server the same question. Cleared when the browser closes. |
Signing out deletes the token, your name and email, and every cached lookup.
Every request goes to www.actingportal.com over HTTPS, and only ever
in response to something you did.
When you open a person or title page, the extension sends that page's IMDb identifier so it can tell you whether that person or project is already in your account. It reads the identifier and the displayed name from the page. It does not read anything else on the page and does not run on any other website.
Pressing Add sends the IMDb identifier and the name shown on the page, so the record can be created in your account. Public IMDb details for that person are then fetched by our server, not by your browser.
Only when you press the import button. The extension reads your own following list, in your own logged-in session, and sends the usernames and display names to be matched against contacts already in your account. Handles that match are kept, and the rest are discarded with the request. Nothing else is read: not profile pictures, not follower counts, not who is private. There is no background collection and no scheduled scan.
The extension adds a panel showing the next person on your own outreach list, and a button in the compose toolbar that inserts your saved email signature.
It does not read your email. It does not read your inbox, your threads, your contacts, or the contents of any message you write. The only thing it writes into a compose window is your own signature, and it only replaces a signature Gmail itself inserted.
When you use the outreach panel to start a letter, the subject and the address it is going to are recorded in your account so the letter can be listed on your Email Tracking page. That happens when the compose window opens, because nothing in a browser can see you press send.
If you switch it on, links in letters you send through the extension are rewritten to pass through our server so clicks can be counted, and an invisible image is added so opens can be counted. This is a standard email tracking mechanism and it records what happens to messages you send. You can turn it off in the extension's settings, and when it is off nothing is rewritten and nothing is counted.
Nobody. Your data is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, data brokers or any third party for their own purposes. It is not used to build advertising profiles. It is not used to train machine learning models.
Two services are used to run the product itself: our own hosting, and Cloudinary for image delivery. Neither receives data for its own use.
Data in your Acting Portal account is kept for as long as the account exists. To remove data the extension put there, delete the records inside the web app, or close your account, which removes it entirely.
To remove everything the extension holds locally, sign out in the popup, or remove the extension from Chrome. Both clear its stored token and preferences.
This is a professional tool for people working in film and television. It is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 13.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top changes with it and the change is described in the extension's release notes.
